1. Retroblog Thematurnier

März 2016 (Ostersonntag) an den Turnierdirektor Hans Gruber (hg.fee(at)t-online.de).

  1. thanks Thomas. The confusion came from the wording “..in the mating move..”.
Then, in the example the theme is shawn twice: a) variation 1.– Bg2-h3+
    b) solution (f1B is pinned to shield the Queen check on d3 due to the h5B)

  2. Dear Thomas, Merry Crhistmas!
Thanks for inviting to a retro Tourney (too few of them presently to my taste)

Something is confussing to my mind in the theme presentation.
In the example the mating move is performed by the queen, not by the bishop,
so I understand the requested feature in the following way,

“A black piece is forced to enter the rebirth square (RS) of a white piece.
In the mating position this black piece stands on RS and can not move due
    to check against his King”

    Is this a correct interpretation?
    best wishes,

    • Dear Roberto, Indeed, this is the corect interpretation, see the example: After R 1.– Bg2-h3+ White “pins” the Bishop by R 2.h5-h6 — this were a check, if RS were not occupied by the Bishop; so after 1.Bd3# the defense Be4?? is impossible, since the Bishop is pinned (sic!) by Ph5.
